Vintage Rolex MilSub Submariner Reference 5513 Royal Navy

The Rolex MilSub Submariner Reference 5513 Royal Navy is one of the most legendary military-issued dive watches ever made, created specifically for the British Ministry of Defence and supplied to Royal Navy personnel from the late 1960s through the 1970s. Based on the civilian Rolex Submariner ref. 5513, the MilSub was modified to meet strict military specifications, including fixed strap bars for secure NATO straps, fully graduated 60-minute bezel inserts for precise dive timing, sword-shaped hands for maximum legibility, and highly visible tritium lume markers. Many examples were engraved with military issue numbers and service markings on the caseback, adding to their historical significance. Built for hard operational use rather than luxury, surviving watches often show heavy wear, which collectors highly value as evidence of genuine service history. Today, the Rolex MilSub 5513 Royal Navy is considered one of the rarest and most desirable vintage Rolex models, admired for its rugged tool-watch heritage, military provenance, and direct connection to elite naval diving operations.
